The Netherlands! It was everything I hoped for and then some. We arrived late in Rotterdam, but that didn’t stop us from diving right into the vibe of the city. First stop? Food! We found ourselves at Vapiano, where we had what might just be the best Bolognese I’ve ever tasted. Seriously, it was like eating pure heaven on a plate comforting, rich, and flavourful. If there’s a way to begin a trip on a high note, Vapiano’s Bolognese definitely delivered.
And because we were in Holland, I couldn’t resist trying the famous Holland weed, something I’d been curious about for a while. To my surprise, it wasn’t quite as strong as I expected, but it was definitely enjoyable! Though I’ll admit, I’m still nursing a bit of a funny throat totally worth it, though.
Rotterdam is a fascinating city with a unique vibe that sets it apart from the rest of the Netherlands. Known for its modern architecture, bustling port, and innovative energy, Rotterdam has a distinctive charm that’s part urban and part waterfront beauty. The city was heavily bombed during World War II, so while cities like Amsterdam have their classic, old-world architecture, Rotterdam is a showcase of contemporary design and experimental buildings. The Architecture, The Port of Rotterdam, Cultural life, The food scene, Green spaces and canals are what i'd talk about some other time but, lets move...
The next day, my excitement was through the roof. My busy mind was finally starting to feel relaxed, but at the same time, I was dying to explore every corner of the city.
Rotterdam was beautiful, but I was itching to see the iconic Amsterdam. So, we hopped on a train from Rotterdam straight to Amsterdam Central, and as soon as I stepped off, I was amazed.
Amsterdam is simply breathtaking a blend of classic charm and modern buzz, all wrapped up in one picturesque city.
Our first stop? The Sex Museum. Yes, you read that right! I just had to check it out. And honestly, it was fascinating to see how the concept of sexuality has evolved over time. The exhibits were both quirky and thought provoking, making me see just how society’s attitudes toward sex have shifted through the years.
Then, it was off to another iconic spot the Madame Tussauds Museum.
Walking through the halls and seeing life-like wax figures of celebrities and historical icons was thrilling. Some of the figures were so realistic, it felt like they’d start talking any second! Needless to say, I took plenty of pictures and videos to capture the moment.
After our museum tour, we were ready to fuel up, so we grabbed a bite to eat at one of the nearby cafés. Then, we headed back to Rotterdam,
just when I thought the day was winding down, we got our hands on bikes and took to the streets for a true Holland experience. There’s something magical about biking through the city at dusk the canals, the architecture, the friendly faces around every corner. It felt like the city had opened up just for us, giving us one last adventure before we finally headed back to our hotel.
The Netherlands was such a fantastic experience a place filled with charm, history, and a little bit of mischief. Can’t wait for my next stop on this adventure!
Grateful to have shared this adventure with my buddy. The best travel buddy if i should say so myself....
