Water; Sunset Healing

Published on 10 November 2024 at 07:19

To me, every river or ocean holds a presence, and I feel a deep connection, almost like they’re allies in some way. I’ve come to trust that each water body I encounter offers guidance and protection. It’s a belief that calls for a bit of reverence and a lot of faith, adding a spiritual dimension to each journey across the water. I carry that grounding respect, a connection to my roots and the hope that the water will always watch over me.

Sunset Healing;

There’s something about the ocean that feels like therapy.

It was only yesterday I was nursing a stubborn cold, the kind that reminds you the “common cold” isn’t all that common when it’s running its course. So, when the chance to go on a sunset cruise presented itself, I jumped at it with gratitude and excitement.

My friend Titi from Nigeria had asked me to join her, and I knew this was going to be more than just another scenic ride, it was a chance to unwind, reconnect, and let the Cape Town breeze work its magic on both body and spirit.

We boarded the Ameera sailboat just as the sun began its descent, casting warm, golden hues across the water. The iconic view of Cape Town’s mountains served as a breathtaking backdrop, while the city lights began to flicker to life, creating an enchanting contrast between nature and urban life. The air was cool, the waves gentle, and for a moment, everything was blissfully quiet.

But, of course, life is never quite that simple, is it? Just as we were getting comfortable, a moment of chaos erupted.

One of my friend’s colleagues, who was on board with us, suddenly gasped. We all turned to see her frantically reaching for her bag, which looked precariously close to tumbling overboard.

Heartbeats quickened, and we all watched in suspense, envisioning the horror of her belongings sinking to the ocean floor. But luck was on her side; the bag held its ground, or should I say, its “sea legs.” I couldn’t help but laugh in relief and admiration for that bag. It had steeze—a whole vibe of its own, apparently even equipped to handle a Cape Town adventure.

After our little bag drama, we relaxed back into the rhythm of the water, appreciating the beauty surrounding us. The sky shifted through colors you’d only believe in paintings, and for a few moments, all was right in the world. The cruise felt reassuring, almost as if the sea was speaking back to us, whispering that everything would be fine. There’s a tranquility on the water that’s hard to explain but easy to feel. It made me grateful for the simple things: friendship, nature, and the quiet moments that bring us peace.

As the sun disappeared beneath the horizon, painting the sky in shades of violet and orange, we docked and headed to our next destination, dinner at TANG restaurant.

The food was an absolute delight, every bite bursting with flavor, a treat for a recovering taste bud. But as incredible as the meal was, our waiter seemed determined to test our patience. He was inattentive, missing our requests more times than I could count, and seemed to bring an air of indifference to what was supposed to be a memorable dining experience. Still, the food made up for the lack of service, and we chose to focus on the positives rather than let one person dampen our spirits.

Reflecting on the night, I realize how much there was to be thankful for, even in the small, imperfect moments. This cruise was more than just a ride; it was a reminder to embrace life in all its unpredictability, the laughter, the little scares, the imperfections, and the beauty that exists in between.

So here’s to mornings that come after memorable nights, to friends who make every adventure worth it, and to Sundays that remind us to slow down, breathe deeply, and simply be grateful.

Happy Sunday!
